Thanks to everyone for such rapid and helpful replies. Dbevis asked what I was trying to achieve. I should have mentioned this; I'd come across the concept of hyperfocal distance and its calculation. I realised that I had no idea what the focal length of the zoom lens is at any setting (other than at the wide-angle (and telephoto) end of the zoom scale). Having said all that, by putting in some trial numbers into the hyperfocal distance equation - representing the focal lengths at the bottom end of the zoom range and at various logical aperture settings - it turns out that the furthest hyperfocal distance I'm likely to encounter is about 10 feet. Now, I must see if theory is borne out by practice. I have had the camera 4 years now and I never seem to stop learning something more about it.
Many thanks for the ideas submitted; I will see what I can discern with a tape measure fixed to a wall.
Many thanks.

Find another lawyer if you want to (or at this stage you can represent yourself easily) and file G-28 form. New G-28 will replace the old one and the info on file will be updated.
Thank you very much. I believe the same thing but wanted to check with you guys to be doubly sure.
are u saying fragomen is no good?
In no way, good sir. They are awesome in my books.
Did they not drop all the charges for now (even though the charges were true)? So why is your lawyer still docked? Maybe he no longer is, unless his "miracles" were different from Fragomen.
I don't have the official verdict from USCIS whether my lawyer is "still docked" or not, but I'm sure you can understand my situation. Even if my lawyer were "undocked," would I really want to risk some behind-the-scenes FBI investigation delay? Or even worse, a denial with some bullshit reason?
yeah, may be you shud share the name of your lawyer....who knows I might also be using this lawyer...you never know until you find out the names.
I do not wish to publicly hurt his business any further than what he has already endured for helping people like us. If you are really that concerned, send me a PM.
I think I'm in an interesting situation which could benefit future IV members. If there are any further comments, I would love to hear them.

most likely if your app has been already pre-adjudicated (meaning you are outside the processing dates of 485 and life has been cool so far), then I would guess life would continue to be cool.

That's for NSC.
Although they have put Aug 16 as the date, I can swear it was NOT there on Aug 16th. Didn't they publish it just yesterday? Thats such a nice cheating!

Very interesting flower, great colors and shapes. I don't have a suggestion for the DOF problem, but I think this is a case where the flower is so unique I'm not thinking of the technicalities very much. I like the second picture, but it'd be great to pair it with an "overview" shot to understand how the whole flower/plant looks.
Don't apologize for your nice flower pictures - in that case I know one or two that would have to do the same for birds, or baseball, or semi-nudes, or [insert favourite subject here]... :p

According to Rajiv Khanna's web site PD can be ported without any other condition (except for fraud). I have seen several postings from other members saying the PD can be ported only when previous employer does not revoke petition which does not seem to be the case as per text below from FAQ in immigration.com
1. Can you please explain if priority dates can be transferred?
2. What If I-140 Is Denied?
A29 1. Sure. Here is the law:
CHANGING EMPLOYER BEFORE I-140 APPROVAL
If a person changes employers before obtaining I-140 approval, they can carry NOTHING forward to the next employer. They have to start their labor certification all over again with the new employer. There are some very limited exceptions to this rule (for example, in general, a change in employers requires a new application for certification by the new employer unless the same job opportunity and the same area of intended employment are preserved. International Contractors, Inc., and Technical Programming Services, Inc., 89-INA-278 (June 13, 1990). A change in employers does not necessitate a reapplication for certification where the alien is working in the exact same position, performing the same duties, and in the same area of intended employment for the same salary or wage). Neverthless, you can discuss your case specifically with your own lawyers. If you wish to get a second opinion from us, we expect a paid consultation.
2. That situation is legally the same as changing employers before I-140 employer.
CHANGING EMPLOYER AFTER I-140 APPROVAL
If a person has received an I-140 approval through an employer, the priority date then permanently belongs to him or her. Under very limited circumstances (such as fraud) INS may revoke the I-140 thus causing a loss of priority date.
If such a person changes employers, their priority date will remain the old one, even though they have to process their labor certification and I-140 again with the new employer. It does not matter where in USA the new job is located, what the new job title is or whether the new job falls under EB-2 or EB-3. The priority date is still transferable.
We recommend that an applicant keep at least a copy of the I-140 approval notice.

Most of these case I have heard have got H4 visa without any issues. You will do OK. Go for stamping.
Dont give misleading information. If you are in H1B for three years without pay stub, its a serious issue.

In a bitter irony,MIT Admission dean resigned today after admitting that she had put fake degrees in her resume.
http://www.thebostonchannel.com/education/13199999/detail.html
Contrast this with H1-B Visa applicants. If some one on H1-B visa were to change jobs, they need to furnish following documents
1.W-2 for last year
2. Two latest paystubs
3. Copies of all educational degrees held.
In addition, there will be a background check from a professional agency, which will actually call -
-All previous employer mentioned in resume
-Checks with all educational institutes mentioned in resume
-Call up references
-Criminal Check.
Now, whom will you hire next time? A Green Card job applicant just supplies a SSN,and a simple criminal check is run against them. They can fake all the degrees and work experience they want. There is no way to verify last salary held by a citizen/GC applicant. Poor H1-B visa holder can not even fake this simple thing.

Just on the lighter note I wonder if even USCIS ignores that mistake and give you and your co-worker's wife a GC.

I may have to use it for work from January as I am invoking AC21. I am confused now whether to re-apply or just use it like as it is.
My attorney informed USCIS about the typo error when they received the AOS receipts , but it looks like EAD Card was ordered before USCIS was notified. My Advance Parole has also mis-spelled Lastname. I have USCIS letter confirming typo error attached to my case. Would this be a sufficient proof that my EAD has a different Lastname which is only a typo error?
Gurus please advise.

My lawyer advised me to take an infopass to correct the name of my dependent on the EAD card. Instead of "e", they placed "a" and he said that I might as well have the name on the FP notice and I-485 corrected.

I guess I was doing this technique before I knew it's offical name, here's the last shot I recall.

Silly me, I did it the hard way, hand held.
P.S. Jeff, don't feel bad, I started out with one of those cheap Wal-Mart tripods too. Now that I have a good one the old cheap one comes in handy for my remote flash. So don't throw it out you may be able to reuse it one day.
